AEIC Praises Introduction of American Innovation and Competitiveness Act

Washington, D.C. – The American Energy Innovation Council (AEIC) commends Sens. Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Gary Peters (D-MI) on the introduction of legislation (S.3084) to reauthorize the America COMPETES Act. The senators have worked tirelessly for the past year developing a bipartisan proposal that reflects the importance of supporting American ingenuity.

“The senators developed their reauthorization of COMPETES through an open and collaborative process that considered the views of various stakeholders. The result is a strong proposal consistent with the recommendations from the National Academies’ Rising Above the Gathering Storm report,” said BPC President Jason Grumet.

AEIC has long supported the energy provisions of COMPETES. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) has introduced separate legislation to reauthorize the energy provisions; his bill was included in the Energy Modernization Act, introduced by Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA). We look forward to prompt Senate consideration of the Gardner-Peters COMPETES bill.
